Analyze this!

Recently some files were found in the company network I work for... (which always gets a "uh-oh" reply from me) and for some reason the AV wouldn't want to tell me what was inside it, though it was more than suspicious looking. For one moment something flashed, and I remembered that I was attending a seminar on Viruses and things like that. I had taken a note on my Cell phone which was there for more than one year. I was happy... that I somehow managed to remember it (you know what they say “better late then never”). Now I want to share these useful sites with you.

Both sites actually have the same feature; you upload the file and the system will analyze the file with various scanners and patterns accordingly and will provide you with an report.

So the first one is VirusTotal, the great thing about this site is, that it is available in 26 languages. Even if you have an suspicious looking e-Mail just send it to them you'll get an report. See it for yourself at www.virustotal.com

The second one is Anubis. This site will look for malware in the uploaded binary. You can get more precise reports if you have some time. The site is jointly operated by the Vienna University of Technology, Eurecom France and UC Santa Barbara, check it out at anubis.iseclab.org
